We are excited to announce that the Myrtle Point School District is planning on
opening Maple School in the fall of 2024-25 as a Middle School. Maple Middle
School will be grades 6-8. Moving students into Maple will allow the district to get
out of the Davenport Building at the Coos County Fairgrounds. The District has
done several tests to ensure that Maple is capable of hosting students. The
building currently houses the District Office and the Technology Department.
Maple will get new paint in most of the classrooms and some new flooring before
the next school year begins.
If you any questions or concerns about reopening Maple, feel free to send me an
email at
steveperkins@mpsd.k12.or.us I will make sure your question or concerns
are answered.
During spring break, we installed Security Fences at Myrtle Crest Elementary.
These fences will ensure that visitors can only enter the building through the main
office. All students and community members must also enter the building
through the main office doors. We are very happy with the new security
measures for Myrtle Crest. This addition will make Myrtle Crest a secure building
with only one main entrance. All outside entrance doors at Myrtle Crest are now
locked during the school day.
Myrtle Crest and the high school are hosting parent conferences this Thursday
night and Friday. Make sure you drop in and check on your student’s progress at
school.
Our student calendar has been approved for the 2024-25 school year. One major
change is there is no school during the week of Thanksgiving, so families can make
plans to travel that week without missing school.
Enjoy the spring weather. Get outside and enjoy an activity. We currently have
baseball, golf, softball, and track going on in the district.

Great job to all of our wrestlers at districts this weekend. Logan Clayburn is now a 3 time district champion and is headed to state to try to become a back-to-back state champion!
Jonathan Padgett had a great day and made it to the finals placing second! Jonathan will also head to state and try to bring home some hardware!
Sam Groves and Camillo Palmas both had a good day with some great wins, but heartbreak loses in the third place match to finish fourth.
Good luck at state boys!
