These four ladies make nearly one thousand meals a day for the students and staff in the MP School District. THANK YOU LUNCH HEROS! School Lunch Hero Day is held annually on the first Friday in May in honor of each person responsible for providing lunches (and food) to millions of children across America. This year, it will take place on May 5. If you looked forward to tasty food and a full belly in school, you know exactly whom to thank for this.

The assembly today at Myrtle Crest was great fun for all. After hearing from guest speaker Karl Smith, some teachers got Footloose to demonstrate to students how great a show of talent can be. That was followed by some masterful mummy wrapping that was such fun to watch!

What brought you to this job? I have always known that I wanted to serve others, and by chance I landed at Myrtle Crest. Initially I started out in Title 1, then moved to the office as the Attendance Secretary. Now, in my third year, I’ve chosen to leave the office and go back into the classroom to further my experience and better prepare myself to be a teacher one day. What are you enjoying about this school year? I love working with kids—seeing their faces when they see me; their excitement never gets old. I also enjoy working in all the different classrooms this year. What is something you enjoy - that makes your life rewarding? Something that makes my job rewarding is the relationships I have gotten to build over the years with students and their families. I also love being a part of creating a healthy and productive learning environment for students. How do you spend your time outside of work? My family loves sports, and we never miss a Beaver game. We love to hunt, pick mushrooms and berries, hike, and I love to barbecue. Share some facts about yourself: I have two boys (Daniel 5 & William 2). My favorite color is pink. My first job was at Denny’s Pizza. I have a cat named Kiki.

Middle School Track can drive

Myrtle Point Middle School track team is holding a can drive! The team is raising funds for team jerseys and a few pieces of new equipment! Currently the team does not have enough jerseys for our 20 students on the team. The team practices daily from 3:30-5:30 at the track, except meet days. If you have cans you want to drop off during that time, it would be very appreciated! The team will also be at Carquest Saturday April 15th from 10-1 collecting cans. Come support your Bobcats!
